Nobody knows why.
Bed 9 wants a turkey sandwich immediately despite actively vomiting.
Someone’s grandma is attempting another unauthorized departure.
The psych patient has discovered the emergency exit alarm.
There are six ambulances outside.
The charge nurse has stopped blinking.
And somebody just walked through the ambulance bay and said:
“Hey, is it usually this busy?”
Motherfucker.
THIS IS THE EMERGENCY ROOM.
We haven’t known peace since orientation.
Night shift survives on caffeine, nicotine, gas-station cuisine, wildly inappropriate jokes, and the sacred belief that whatever happens on nights should NEVER be repeated in front of administration.*

🚑 Ambulances: multiplying.

🍕 Pizza from management: somehow colder than the coffee.
